Taster Apprenticeship & Student Internship in Jena at the JBZ

Try out vocational professions. Experience everyday working life.

Summer? Sun? Apprenticeship!

The taster apprenticeship at the Jena Training Center is a one-week summer holiday offer for students in grades 8 to 11. During this practical week, participants learn typical activities in their chosen field from apprentices and can ask questions of both the apprentices and instructors. By the end of the week, they will have completed a project through their own efforts.

This creates realistic impressions, new interests – and a sound foundation for later career and training decisions.

Our understanding of the taster apprenticeship

The taster apprenticeship at the Jena Training Center stands for trying things out, participating, and reflecting. Young people do not experience technical vocational professions theoretically, but directly in practice. This creates realistic impressions and a reliable basis for their own career decisions.

Practice creates real orientation

Vocational orientation is particularly effective when it is concrete and tangible. In the taster apprenticeship, participants have the opportunity to get to know typical activities of various technical vocational professions in a practical way. They work with tools, machines, and materials and experience real work processes. This allows them to better assess which activities suit them and where their interests and strengths lie.

The taster apprenticeship is specifically aimed at students in grades 8 to 11 and takes place during a phase when initial career decisions are being made. Through practical insights and direct exchange with apprentices and instructors, the young people gain confidence in their orientation. They develop a clearer idea of which training paths are suitable for them and which next steps are sensible.

“The taster apprenticeship helps young people understand vocational professions and make informed decisions.”
